The halo, briefly
Every quarter, the internet re-decides that Nintendo is the good one. Fewer layoffs, cozier games, no visible executive meltdown. That reputation is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
The contractor tier nobody talks about
Under the full-time Nintendo of America headcount is a long bench of contract QA and localization workers with worse pay, no benefits, and a hard cap on how long they can stay before being force-cycled out.
It's the same shape as the story at every other big publisher. The difference is that Nintendo's brand has been strong enough to keep it out of the headlines.
The consumer side of the halo
Aggressive takedowns, region locks, and the ongoing Palworld litigation are also part of the picture. 'Kid-friendly output' and 'friendly to the people who make or study games' are two very different things.
